Ford Taurus X The Ford Taurus X, so named because it shares the same platform as the Ford Taurus, is a 7-passenger mid-size crossover SUV. The car is positioned between the 5-passenger mid-size Ford Edge and upcoming 7-passenger full-size Flex crossover SUV. The design of the Taurus X closely resembles that of its sibling, the Ford Edge, creating a family face for its crossover segment.

Default '93 Wagon-Power Cuts Out Driving 10-20 Minutes

I have 1993 Taurus Wagon, 53,000 miles. Engine just cuts out after about 10-20 minutes of driving, then restarts after about 20-30 minutes. Replaced fuel pump & Ignition Control Module. Have checked dist. cap-rotar-plugs & wires. Problem still exists. Do not know what to replace next. Help! Thanks, Tim.

That's a classic sign of an electrical component overheating and failing.
In the old duraspark ignition systems, that would be classic for the pick-up coil inside the distributor.

Next time she stalls check for spark. Feel your coil, etc.

Default That is one thing I have not replaced.

I have thought about replacing the coil, which was the next thing on my list to replace. It does feel hot to the touch when it dies, but I thought that was just normal. Thanks for the advice. Tim. usethistoregister@hotmail.com.

Default The coil is located on the outside of the distributor.

FYI. The coil is located on the outside of the distributor on this model. I have had it out and looked at it, but not yet replaced it.
