Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default How to remove dome light cover

Well, I spent probably one hour trying to remove dome light cover to replace bulb on my 2000 Taurus SE, but this is impossible!!! I'm so frustrated now. Please, can someone who actually done this help me? I have tried everything, pulling, squeezing, screwdrivers, knives, dynamite ... no help...
There is one small hole on a rear side of the cover so I suppose that this hole is there for purpose of removing this cover but I still haven't found any solution.

In attachment you will find photo of actual dome light cover.

Please, help

Thank you in advance

A lot of dome lamp covers just have snap in tabs. To remove, all you need to do is gently squeese the front or back face of the cover with your hand, exposing the snap tabs. Usually, it's the taller face that has the locking tabs.

The 2001 Ford service manual says the following:
Interior Lamp Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Section 414-01».
2. Remove the interior lamp lens.
... Release the lens from the switch side first.
3. Release the two clips and remove the interior lamp assembly.
... Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

This should also apply to the 2000 Taurus.
