Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default 99 Taurus - Wipers Issue

Recently, my wipers have begun to operate intermittently with the wiper switch off. I could remove the fuse when it is not raining but this is an unacceptable solution.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I look forward to feedback.

Thanks,

Jim

I have a 99 Taurus that had the same issue. My problem was the turn signal/wiper stalk. There is a design flaw in the factory stalk. Ford has corrected the problem on newer stalks. I purchased a new one from the dealer $100 and replaced it myself in 2001, no problems since. You could probably get one from a salvage yard but don't get one from another 99. Mine got progressively worse to the point it just drove me crazy I don't think it hurts any thing other than your sanity.
