Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default Update...

I must have had some juice in the battery...

I charged it up, listened for the fuel pump... Check
Fuel pressure... Check
Spark... Check
Did not test gas injected...

I replaced the alternator, problem solved.

Many Thanks To your help!

Harry

Kudo's to MARK V for knowing the alt. was the problem considering YARDMAN HARRY's list of problems.

1. Battery light comes on and all lights dim (usually battery or alt)
2. ABS light comes on ??????
3. theft light comes on ??????
4. Stereo turns off (loss of power?)
5. all other dash lights turn on (really confusing)
6. Tach and speedo stop registering (poss bad ground or broken circuit board?)
7. Fuel gage stops registering, and other gages (same as 6)
8. the transmission begins to shift erratically (I had no idea loss of power could do this?)

You learn something new everyday!

The only reason I knew this is because my Windstar went through the same thing, everything he described happened to my Windstar unfortunately my Windstar also killed my battery too.

I don't get it why people always expect a old vehicle that breaks down to always be covered under some warranty?

If your exhaust tip is larger than your cylinder bore, then you are a Ricer.

ABE I learn so much from you and you are truly a Ford Guru with your vast knowledge and it almost seems like you got the complete Ford Service Manual directly wired to your Brain.

ABE thank you very much for the complement!

This is a very nice, and polite forum... the nicest I have seen in a long time. Thank you both very much.

I hate it when issue threads are never updated with the solution. This thread will hopefully help the next person.. if they know how to use the search feature

Thanks!

Harry
