Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default Cruise control
Hello all.

I just got a 1996 Taurus GL wagon. Only thing I have noticed that doesn't seem to work is the cruise control. The Light in the dash shows that the cruise control is engaging but it doesn't set at speed. Just thought I'd throw out the question and see if anyone could suggest anything. I will be changing all the fluids as it appears the car sat for a while. (Power Steering fluid is brown...eww)

Make sure the cruise control cable has not popped of the throttlebody
