Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default cooling fans

My cooling fans quit this summer (2002 taurus). I switched out relays and fuzes, nothing worked. Finally took it to a local shop--both fans were dead. Aparently one had been out for some time, but went unnoticed until the other one failed. Replaced them both (OEM $62 each) and they have worked great (easy swapp--two bolts each, 30 minutes).

LOL sounds so famillar. Both of my fans in my 00 went out during the summer. When the engine gets hot and then it shuts off the AC. It did not take long for me to figure it out but not before my engine overheated and blew off the overflow tank cap. (258degrees) according to the PCM / Genisys scan tool that I had on at that time. Both fans cost about $275 from my local ford dealer and I alway get a good deal so I paid $220 out the door.

On a 97 ford taurus---The radiator cooling fans are intermitting---some time they will not come on after the Eng. is hot---they always come on when a/c is turned on.

Where is the temp switch that turnes them on and off and where are the time delay relays that control them?

Thank for letting me use your forum.
