need help diagnosing my 2000 Taurus SE problem something's wrong with my tranny. i had this car for about three months before it crapped on me, and when it did i was understandably pissed right off. so i was going up this hill on my way to school, not really a steep hill or anything, maybe 8-10 degrees. anyway, i was stopped at the top of this hill waiting for a chance to pull into traffic and as i let off my brake and eased onto the gas (and i do mean eased. my gas pedal is squirrelly as all get-out.) and something went pop, and i started rolling downhill backwards. well, i rolled until i saw a yard i recognized and parked there. i checked to see if reverse worked and it worked fine. when we went back to the place i parked my car, me and two other guys pushed the car up the hill at a steeper place than before while one other guy was up front steering. he said he put it in drive and he could feel it pull while we were pushing but it just seemed like the transmission wasn't catching onto anything. so now the car's been sitting in my driveway for about a month and i'm stressing out trying to figure out what i'm gonna do. i have a loan to pay off for this car (i'm 17. mom got a loan to pay for the car, and now i'm letting her down with no money and no car to get me to a job.) and it's just sitting there losing all worth to me. i honestly would like to just throw it into reverse and roll out of my driveway and let some idiot t-bone me so i can reap some insurance money and buy something that isn't a ford taurus. so what i would like to know is does anyone think they might know what this is? a few people already told me it might be a pressure band or pressure line in the transmission that's snapped or burst or whatever. i'm really hoping it's something that won't cost me a new transmission. i just want to get it fixed quickly and sell the p.o.s. and hopefully buy a cheap pickup with standard shift. also, if anyone knows where to get one of those in or around middle georgia, namely warner robins, i'd gladly hear it. |
