95 3.8, doesn't start

Ahoy!

This is about to be my first time doing anything more involved than changing my own oil, please keep my noob-ness in mind when replying

When I turn the key in my '95 Taurus the starter goes a bit but the engine doesn't turn over. Subsequent key turns get only the 'click' from whatever it is that goes 'click' when you turn the key. After letting it sit for a while I can once again hear the starter go a bit when turning the key and the behavior repeats itself.

So what is going on, where are the diagrams to examine, and what's the ideal course of action?

I just had a similiar issue and changed out my starter, fixed the problem. It can also be your battery.
