Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default Oil Change Frequency
I bought a 2007 Ford Taurus SE in August 2008 with 39,219 miles at the time. Today the odometer reads 40,879 miles (1660 miles in 10 months). I had the 40,000 mile check done when it was at 40,055 miles.

The Scheduled Maintenance Guide shows changing the oil every 5,000 miles but since I put in very few miles I would think I need to go by the number of months. How many months would that be?

Or should I wait till the oil starts looking a little dirty?
