Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Question 2000 Taurus Startup Problem need help
So my car has 95,000 miles and just recently began having issues starting up. When turning the ignition the car start normally but turns off immediatly unless I press the gas pedal. Then the car shuts down after I release the gas pedal. What could be the problem?

AT 95,000 mile it is due for a tuneup... new plugs, air and fuel filters.
Your problem is likely a dirty sticking IAC.

What does the IAC do? How does it work?
