Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default What to look for in a used 04-07 Taurus?

I see prices all over the map. I see mileage low and high. I see cars with buckets, I see them with benches. I see mostly Vulcan motors which I like. And what I'm not seeing are any definitely way to tell which ones are OK and which ones are going to be problems.

So far the best three deals I've found are a 2005 with 40K for $8800, a 2006 with 21K for $10000, and a 2007 with 23K for $13000. The 07 is light green, which sucks, but it IS an 07. The other two are medium blue and that's what my wife wants is blue.

When I go to check these three cars out, what should I look for? Any telltale signs of failure to look for under the hood or on a test drive?

Someone told me a few dealers in the Ohio and Pennsylvania areas are selling 2007 models as demos, getting them around the fleet only status. $12,000 seems to be the magic number and the cars have 5K or less on them. I'm in Texas, so wondering if it's worth the drive to go see, so any members from OH or PA who have seen these cars or seen the ads, please chime in. Otherwise I'm going to watch AutoTrader like a hawk for a $13000 07 in blue. Or gray. Or black or silver or maroon or ANY COLOR BUT LIGHT TUNDRA GREEN!!! *pulls out hair*
