Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Smile Tire pressure for 2003 Taurus LX?

I bought a used Taurus without any manual, and I can't find any information on its tire pressure from the car body. Can anyone shed some light on that? Thanks a lot.

it depends on what type of tires are on there. Some tires require higher psi to ride correctly.. No door sticker? Our 2003 says 30psi with a 215-65-16 standard load range 35psi max tire. However, I have found that 34 or so works better as long as your tires are 44psi or better tires. The lower the PSI, the larger footprint the tire will leave... this also increases friction and lowers gas mileage as well as wears funny on the tires if the PSI is too low. hope that helps.

My 2000 Taurus SEL wagon has a sticker on the drivers door just above the latching mechanism and outside of the rubber seal, where the door is at its thickest. The sticker includes tire size and recommended pressure. In my case that is 215/60x16 and the pressure is 30 psi cold. I have found that running at higher pressure wears the center portion of the tire.

I keep our '03 near the top of the pressure range - 34, 35psi. It handles better that way and gets best mileage. Under snowy conditions I would not hesitate to get out and reduce pressure to around 30 until the roads are clear.

I always keep tire pressure at 30psi.

Just curiousity, My car received a new driver side door that has no sticker on it. Is there any way to get all information on sticker by VIN?

Your local Ford dealer should be able to get you that info using the VIN. Sometimes they charge for it though.
