| 95 Taurus GL 3.8L Head Gasket Hello Everyone,
I'm new here and have looked around at a lot of information. I have a 95 Taurus GL with a blown head gasket. I am planing on replacing it myself next week, but I have never done it before. I am pretty good with cars and have worked with 3.8L engines before on a 95 bonneville. Do you know if anyone has detailed instructions on how to go about replacing the head gasket on this car. I feel pretty confident that I could do it with the proper instructions. Thanks in advance. |

| I changed the head gaskets on my '93 3.8. I used the Haynes manual and it worked out fine. You need new head bolts because they are "torque to yeild" type and cannot be re-used. The only special tools that I remember are a duck bill for separation of the fuel injector lines and a torque wrench. I used a Felpro gasket set which is high quality and includes everything for both heads, etc..
I had one gasket which had failed and the other was about to fail, so I am glad I did both at the same time. |
