Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Thanks ABE! But I do have the CCD TFI module - black with engineering # E9..., white/pink wire direct to computer. Haynes dropped the ball!!! Doesn't matter though because my problem was the distributor gear. It was worn down to the point it was not turning at times. Replaced the distributor with a $30 one from the wreckers and she started right up!!! Why would the gear wear down so much I wonder??!!

Congratulations on fixing the problem. I have never heard of a distributor gear wearing so much that it failed to drive. There is no load and lots of oil. I am disappointed that Haynes Manual did not identify major differences in ignition systems.

Thanks for the update.
