Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default 2002 Water Leak?

Just bought a used 2002 Taurus with 45,000 miles on it. No visible evidence of any collision or body repairs. Did the carfax thing and no record of any colision repair, water damage (huirricane, flood, etc). No recent windshield replacement. No musty smell inside like there has been any previous leaks. Now, the front drivers side mat gets soaked any time it rains. Pulled back the mat and no evidence of any long term leaks. Left the carpet pulled back, sat in it out in the rain, drove around the block and still no sign of where water might be comming in. I've got a fan going on it now to dry it out, then will try again tomorrow with a hose if necessary.
Is there any record, TSB, or history of water leaks like this? I'm open for suggestions! Thanks!

There are a number of points for water to get into the Taurus in the cowl area. Usually on the passenger side, but I think the driver's side too. There is a TSB which your Ford dealer should be able to provide you. I have seen it and will try to find it.
