Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default Piece of paper caught in the vent of my 1999 Ford Taurus

In the front passenger vent of my 1999 Ford Taurus, there seems to be a small piece of paper caught in it. It seems to be near the front of the vent, but you can barely see it if you look in and you can't reach through the small openings to remove it.

Is it important that I get that piece of paper removed, or is it no big deal. And how would I go about removing it? I heard that I would need to take the vent cover off to reach the piece of paper, but how would I do that.

How would I take the vent cover off to remove the piece of paper and then put it back on without breaking it.?

The paper may block the cabin air filter which is located on the passenger side of the cowl. You need to remove the plastic cowl on the passenger side to replace the cabin air filter every year. The filter gets clogged with debris and reduces HVAC performance noticeably. So buy a new cabin filter and follow the instructions in this thread and remove the paper and replace your cabin filter at the same time.

I am told that the procedure for your generation 3 is the same as the generation 4.

Hope this helps.
