I run 215/60 x 16 summer tires and 225/60 x 16 winter tires. There is no problem with rubbing. I think the Taurus will take a 235 width tire without rubbing.
When my summer tires wear out I will replace them with the 225/60 x 16 size. I prefer them and the difference in speedometer and other computer aspects is insignificant in my opinion since the difference between new and worn tires exceeds the difference one width size increase makes.
Hope this helps.
