Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default P0402 -- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive

I have code P0402 on my 2000 Taurus DOHC. The car has 58,000 miles on it.

First, I replaced the DPFE sensor. Code returned in 10 miles.

Second, I replaced the EGR valve. Code returned in 20 miles.

What's the next step?

Tee a vacuum gage into the EGR valve feed line from the EVR. Unplug the EVR electrical plug and rev the engine a few times. If at any time you get vacuum on the gage, the EVR is leaking through and needs to be replaced.

Try not to replace everything - that gets expensive.

Default P0402 code

I have the same P0402 code and replaced EGR valve, DPFE sensor, EGR soliniod and still have the same problem and can get the car to pass inspection. I'm thinking it might be a vaccum problem.
Anyone know how do you find the vaccum problem???
