Ford TaurusAlong the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.
I just got this car great find for cars have always been good ones. this car was sitting for a while the previous owner replaced the pump but could not fix the problem. i took out the thermostat and housing new housing on. and replaced the recovery tank so water flows and it doesn't overheat on idle but a short trip it did. this means radiator or fans? oh and the radio id crazy. radio works in park and neutral not drive or reverse I mean it goes out and so does the power windows. any ideas? thanks.
There is a current thread about your "radio" problem/fix. For your overheating problem, when was the last time you had the cooling system flushed? Does your fan turn on all that you know of? A couple things to try/check. With the engine "OFF", use your garden hose and spray water from the engine/fan side thru the radiator. If the car was driven down dirt roads alot, grass clipping/seeds/dust could possibly clog the cooling fins. If you decide to flush the system, be sure to check inside the radiator hoses for damage. The inner surface sometimes ruptures and cause a balloon to form, cutting off water flow. The only other thing I can think of is a possible head gasket leak (blown gasket or warped head). Does your car have a radiator cap on the radiator?
