Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Default 97 Taurus headlight won't turn off

Hi

I have a 97 Taurus without DRLs.
Recently, the headlights would refuse to turn off after turning off the engine and pulling the key. It is unresponsive to playing with the autolamp rheostat and will only turn off when I pull the 30A fuse in the underhood fusebox. At the same time the speedometer etc illumination stopped working.
In order to try and fix this I bought a used headlight switch and replaced it without success.
Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you

Simon

did you replace the headlight switch on the dash, or the dimer/turn signal/wiper/combination switch on the steering column?
