Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Are you talking about the spring loaded serpentine belt tensioner? That's not adjustable.

Is their anyway to loosen the tension so that I can install a new belt myself? And if so where?

Sure, look for the square hole in the tensioner arm, insert a breaker bar or ratchet and rotate. That will release the spring tension.

rotate clockwise to loosen belt. belt tensioners wear out and need replacing every so often.
