Ford TaurusAlong the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Hi fellow Taurus owners!!...ok my problem is this...My head lights won't shut off!..now i changed the interior switch and the front head light assembly and still the lights are on!
now it has daytime running lights on it so maybe that it?!?!...
I had a mechanic go over the car with nothing to report about this problem!
a while ago the dome light wouldn't shut off so i took the bulb out
then the passenger rear window would get stuck in the down position-then the pass front would do the same..then on the night of the head light failure the head lights flicker'd on and off for a bit and then just stayed on for good!...so do any of you have ANY ideas on what it could be..please w/b if you know anything...if you have any problems with you cars let me know....i might be able to help...you never know

You are not alone with the crazy lights and electrical problems.. last night your story became real to me and my headlights won't shut off amongst other strange electrical problems. My highbeam light indicator is staying on and the highbeams aren't even on. Did you get anything resolved yet?
I did a search of past posts and found one from Jon Patterson that seems pretty close to the problem you're having.
His question was "When I turn on the headlamps to my 1998 Taurus SE with the engine running, they will no go out by turning the switch. I have to remove the fuses for each low beam. If I turn the lights on without the engine running, they will go off by turning the switch. Also, my instrument panel does not light up. The fuse is good."
RickMN responed with "Do you have the autolamp feature--where the headlights stay on after you've shut off the car? If so, I'm guessing you might have a sticking relay. However, since you also have an instrument panel issue, I'd also check for a bad ground that's causing electrical feedback through the headlight relay."
I had the same thing happen a little while back and I just took out the fuse up by the radiator. Look for the daytime running lights fuse, that will kill the lights and everything will work normally. I am not gonna replace the DRL box again..I've put in 2 already...NO MORE>>>>>
