Ford Taurus Along the way, Ford has made some 500 changes to the Taurus, changes that were already scheduled for the mid-cycle freshening of the Five Hundred. The general body shape of the new Taurus is the same as that of the previous Five Hundred, a large, front-wheel-drive family sedan, but almost everything else has changed for the better.

Question help please 97 taurus gremlins

ok great ford taurus gurus here is the problem :
97 taurus gl 100000 miles sohc engine . just bought last november noticed that headlights have always "surged " in brightness since day one of my ownership (this may come in to play later not a big change but noticeable at all speeds) 3 weeks ago car flashed a code but light went out before I could have it diagnosed have also noticed since then that turn signal flash rate seeds up and slows down when waiting at stop lights this rate did not correspond with rpm changes actually seemed it flashed faster at lower rpm
.this week car just died suddenly after start up
car started back up right away but radio station had reset to 101.1 did this twice this week then tonight car died while driving approx 35 mph did not bog down just was running one min and not the next
although all lights came on dash like at start up then they went off strange thing was power steering seemed to work until dash light s went off coasted to a stop and car restarted right away again but this time radio clock had reset to 12 station had gone to 101.1 again and presets were still correct . not sure of battery age and have heard some rattle from altenato at start up but goes away after warm up
. need guidance here could bad alt or regulator be causing a voltage surge that is shutting down ecm ? bad battery? should I call a priest

Check the battery cable ground to the chassis first.
If necessary, you will need to disconnect the battery and unbolt the main fuse box in the engine compartment and check for corrosion on the wire attachments underneath.

The battery and alternator are not to blame if the battery stays charged.
