Ford TempoThe Ford Tempo is an American-built two-door coupe and four-door sedan produced by the Ford Company from 1984 to 1994. It was the successor to the Ford Fairmont, and was replaced in 1994 by the Ford Contour. The Tempo was part of a rejuvenation by Ford to offer more environmentally friendly, fuel efficient, and more modern styled models to compete with the imports.
no u need to swap out the whole muffler. oh and the smaller the tip, the better it sounds. i had a 2.25" full exhaust system on my Tempo and it sounded like a V6.
A hacksaw and blade are about $5. If you want to do it right though you can figure, $100 for a good muffler and probably 50-100 for a good tip. Also check to see if your car has a resonator on it. If it doesn't you'll still get the "four banger with to big of a muffler sound" but you won't get the buzzing that this guy has.
that guy didnt even replace his whole leingth exhaust that just a tip and if i rmeber right he cut the cat out and put a straight pipe there.
he was up on tempotopaz.com a few days then dissapeared

I had a 22" long 2" inlet/outlet Thrush muffler on my tempo a few years ago, straight off the header, taking place of the catalytic converter. I cut the original muffler off and put on a turndown to make it look stock. It sounded pretty good, but was a bit too loud. If you want it loud similar to that, just cut off the muffler, leave the cat, and it'll give you a very similar sound. I just had to cut off the flange tip of the converter, stick it into the thrush, clamped it down, mounted the front, then slid the rest of the exhaust into the back of the thrush, clamped it, then cut off the muffler, and clamped on the turndown. It took me about 2 hours to do it by myself.
