Ford Tempo The Ford Tempo is an American-built two-door coupe and four-door sedan produced by the Ford Company from 1984 to 1994. It was the successor to the Ford Fairmont, and was replaced in 1994 by the Ford Contour. The Tempo was part of a rejuvenation by Ford to offer more environmentally friendly, fuel efficient, and more modern styled models to compete with the imports.

Default Cold starts

lol yet another problem i have is on a cold start if i let it run for only 30 sec my car will die when i shift it into D and its a pain in the ass to start it again.. then if i wait 1 min it still isent enough lol this time it sounds like its about to die but doesent and the after math is my car running realy rough and its so bad that my back feels like its on one of those vibrating seats to massage your back? so i have to wait at least 3 min before i can leave when my engine is cold and its realy a pain... do you know what can be cauing this?

how cold of a start are we talking
its not reallly good to just start the car and drive it anyway let it warm up a lil bit.
if it stil runs like ass when its warm then weve got issiues.
what weight oil are you using and whats the typical temp when you start her up and whats the tipical day time hi in your area right now?

It sort of does it all the time im in toronto so its cold and when its a little warmer it still does it so i dont know. I just look at my temp gauge and when its around C im good to go cause when i start it the needle reads below the C ... lol if i dont wait i suffer and so does my back at the lights could it be the fuel injectors? or something to do with the tranny? as for oil im using 10w30

exactly how cold is it in the morning and whats your elevation?

honestly it could range from anywere between - 7 to 4 Celsius i dont realy pay attention to how cold it realy is lol...

Sounds like you need a throttle position sensor to me. my 85 GL did the same thing when I bought it, it was 5 minutes before you could even drive it, and it was hard to get it to stay running, kept bogging down and nearly stalling. after 5 minutes still ran rough, but ran. The guy bought it from couldn't figure it out, I knew it was the TPS so I bought it really cheap, popped the 28 dollar sensor on it and she was good as new.

I have a similer problem with my 99 Ranger. A real pain to start when it's cold or
has sat a while. It starts ok..but will not stay running until the motor is completely
warmed up.. Where is the senson located?

solved the problem it was my battery, it couldent hold the charge when shifting and when it would stall it wont start cause not enough power from the battery...
