Ford TempoThe Ford Tempo is an American-built two-door coupe and four-door sedan produced by the Ford Company from 1984 to 1994. It was the successor to the Ford Fairmont, and was replaced in 1994 by the Ford Contour. The Tempo was part of a rejuvenation by Ford to offer more environmentally friendly, fuel efficient, and more modern styled models to compete with the imports.
I've been going nuts trying to find a harmonic balancer (crank Pulley) for my daughter's 94 Topaz, 183 CI, 3.0 V6. The HBs grow on trees for the 2.3, and cost around $50. The only one I've been able to find for the 3.0 so far is dealer-only, and costs 412. I notice the Taurus, Ranger, Sable all have the same engine - is it possible that the HB is the same as well? One fella I spke with said that the crazy locatio for this HB is due to the fact that they "shoe-horned" an engine built for a larger car into the Tmepo/Topaz.
Hoping against hope.
Also, I'd be willing to buy your used one, should you have one.
Tried every salvage yard within 20 miles of here. No luck. Filled out tons of request forms online, still no luck - UNTIL - I paid 6.99 to have my request "verified" I think they called it. I got at least a dozen answers the first day. Ended up buying one from a fella within 100 miles of here.
Also, I learned something. Not all of these guys who advertise online are actual junkyards. Many of them are just parts brokers, who manage or, more likely, buy subscriptions to nationwide databases of parts. It took me a while to find a guy who could actually put his hands on the part and describe its condition to me. Didn’t have to pay the middle man (well, I paid some middle man 6.99), and got a good description from a very decent guy. Maybe this is news to no one but me, but I'm glad to know it for the future.
