I had this Tempo since November of 2005 and all through the winter the car would not start if temp is below 25 degrees.
If it cranks more than 8 or 10 times I smell gas, it never starts right off, I tried what the book said when flooded, hold gas to floor and crank engine, that did nothing but overheat the starter, it's a wonder I didn't burn out the starter last winter.
I know it floods because I pulled the plugs and they are soaked with gas.
Even now in the warm weather it takes two start tries,at 5 to 9 crank overs with the starter but it does start without flooding, almost never starting on first crank like most other cars I have had.
Engine cranks over fast, battery load tested and tests very good.
This is a warm weather car..
I replaced: cap, rotor, wires, plugs, had fuel pump replaced twice by my mechanic that I got the car from at no charge.
Does this car have a cold start relay? my machinic cant find one.
Engine is a four banger 2.3L fuel injected.
Any help would be appreciated.
