Ford Tempo The Ford Tempo is an American-built two-door coupe and four-door sedan produced by the Ford Company from 1984 to 1994. It was the successor to the Ford Fairmont, and was replaced in 1994 by the Ford Contour. The Tempo was part of a rejuvenation by Ford to offer more environmentally friendly, fuel efficient, and more modern styled models to compete with the imports.

Default 93 tempo hrmonic balencer pulley Broke!

I have a 93 tempo and was backing out of my drive way when the car started making a very loud noise. Kind of like a banging. I called my brother and he said it was probaly a heat shield and that i could bring it over and he would remove it. So I went back out to leave and half way down the streat I heard a big bang and the banging stopped and my power steering went out so I got back home and called him back and he came over. He said my harmonic balencer pulley broke. I lloked and its broke off and jammed up under the engine with the belt still pulling on it. My question is, Isit on a shaft off some sort and will I have to replace that or do I just need to buy a new pulley? Also, Is this hard to fix? my bro has offered but he's no genius. thanks

I can't imagine a pulley breaking, It might have been the balancer that took the big one. Either way its not so much a larger project except that space if very limited. A lift and air tools will great help out on this one!
