Ford Tempo The Ford Tempo is an American-built two-door coupe and four-door sedan produced by the Ford Company from 1984 to 1994. It was the successor to the Ford Fairmont, and was replaced in 1994 by the Ford Contour. The Tempo was part of a rejuvenation by Ford to offer more environmentally friendly, fuel efficient, and more modern styled models to compete with the imports.

the hso's where a performance option engine "ususally' paired up with
any 84-92 ford tempo/merc topaz upper model such as gls for tempo basicly id you see three letters next to the "ford' name plate its under the hood there clearely indacated by the aluminum stamped valve cover that says FORD "performance" on it
ford however underrated this mototr claiming it made a whole 10 more hp and no more torque
?
no one has been able to prove for shure exactly how much more power it made but the experts have compared the cam profiles and head designs and done there caculations and said it should be about 8-14 depending on induction system i,e, carb tfi or mpfi
the fact is it had a completly differently shaped combustion chamber heart shaped kind a like a hemi
the cam had a little more agressive profile
92 was the last year for the upper model t/t's and if you can find a 4 door one with a 1 piece wing youve also faound a 120mph spedo and side skirts

Yeah I saw a coupe once, and one time only, with that spoiler....I had never seen one like that before.

I just gutted my tempo though.

How much price wise do you think all the above you stated will run me?

Btw I drive a 93 coupe.

depends on the junkyard you get it from
there are a ton of other performance parts you can get for these cars but only on TTOA - Tempo & Topaz Owner Association as there all custom made parts.

I'm not sure about an engine swap.

I'd pull the engine and give it a good rebuild, port the head and intake, weld a custom header for it.

Cronicus can probably give you a ton of pointers.
