That's odd. I've experienced the same problem out of my 1992 Thunderbird with a 5.0. I thought maybe it was something the 5.0 was famous for or something. I changed the oil in mine, and it helped. It would still stall out sometimes, but not as often. So, if you haven't recently done so, I would advise an oil change, also maybe use an oil treatment. Obviously, check your antifreeze. Mine went through that last winter, and I never really got the problem solved, but as soon as warm weather rolled around, it didn't have that problem anymore. I have a couple of theories that I just haven't had the time to check into. I have a sneaking suspicion, that my fuel pump might have something to do with mine, because a lot of times it would be humming when my car died. So if you have the time to check it, or the money to have someone check it, the fuel pump is something to think about. Could just be that our engines are getting older, and a little stalling is something we have to deal with, unless we want to rebuild them. : )
PS: I'm not sure if mine has the stalling problem or not right now, because it needs an alternator. |
