Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

Default C-6 into a 61 T-bird
I have a 61 T-bird with a 390 in it. What I am wondering is if I can swap in a C-6 transmission in place of the trashed Cruise-o-matic that is in it? Will I have to get a different crossmember? Can I keep my swing-away steering wheel? Will I have to get my driveshaft altered? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Anything is possible, its just the money/time issue that usually gets in the way. I would agree with u on needing a new trans mount, and a re-cut & rebalanced drive shaft.
