Ford ThunderBirdFord thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. Under the dash, taped to a bundle of wires coming from the steering column, there is an open 2 pin connector facing the driver.
Cut a paper clip in half. You will find that the remaining "U" fits perfectly into that connector.
Turn the key to on an all door locks will cycle indicating the Remote Keyless Entry module is ready to accept key fobs. If not, your RKE is likely dead.
Press any key on the first fob. The locks will cycle to indicate that the fob is recognized. If not, the battery in the fob or the fob itself is dead.
Repeat for the next fob. All fobs should be reprogrammed at the same time. Only the last 4 will be remembered.

Sorry, but everything I can find for that vintage talks about an open 2 pin connector facing the driver, taped to a bundle of wires coming from the steering column.
