Ford ThunderBirdFord thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.
I'm sick of seeing my car getting towed away from me. I got pulled over and my car towed yesterday because of my rejected sticker. Gimme a break right? Anyway I wasn't going to fix it because I was just going to be giving it away, but now I don't have the money to buy a new one and get it legal on the road and everything. Now I don't really have a choice, so I'm trying to fix the problems enough so I can get a sticker. I figure since I'm fixing the major problems, might as well keep it, because in tip-top shape they can be pretty damn beautiful machines. Alright so after i fix all the suspension problems, I'm going to try and fix the knocking, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. I went to get an oil change and well, apparently they broke something and all the oil leaked out. So now I have this NASTY and LOUD knocking coming from the engine. I've heard my lifters are probably gone, but I've heard a couple other things, so can anyone help me? It doesn't go away at all, and only gets louder when I'm low on oil, but quiets right back down again when I fill it up, but it's still kind of loud. Anything I can personally do at home? Because I know sure as hell I can't afford to go to a garage. Thanks in advance, Cory
Well Cory, it sounds like your back is up against the wall.
Tell us about the car and engine and what it failed inspection on, what kind of tools and experience you have.

i know of one reason for knocking is a bent piston rod if its loud and consistant. it would make sense if the oil leak is bad enough where you ran without oil and warped your piston
