Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

I believe that you stated in an earlier post that while it makes a difference, it is not a significant difference. It could be a weak spark, the plug may be bad, or the wire may have an internal break, and have excessive resistance in it. With a weak spark, you may not get complete combustion, or it may fire sometimes, and miss on others.

Tested a coil at the parts store, I get the same readings I get off mine. So either my voltometer is off, or the specs changed. The problem got worse today and I almost didn't make it to work. I'm starting to think it is a the fuel pump now. Just got to find a fuel pressure gauge.

I knows its kind of a shot in the dark, but you should try and take your fuel rail off and clean it out. I know the 4.6 has had bad fuel rail problems.

No kidding... gee I hadn't heard that. I was thinking about looking at the fuel rail on my 4.6 to see if cyl #8 was at the end of the feed line, or not, But I didn't have my car with me when I thought of it. I was thinking maybe low pressure/ weak pump, and not getting proper fuel pressure that far.

And if injector #8 is getting clogged....then the rail #8 hooks to might have a little build-up in it.

I have this same problem with my '96. I get an intermittent trouble code when it rains and pulling the plugs and wires doesn't help, with a misfire until everything dries out. I need to try this.
