Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

ok, so I replaced the fuse for the fuel pump and still a no go! Unfortunately i'm gonna have to wait till my next paycheck to buy a fuel pressure tester, but I am reallly to starting to think that the fuel pump is dead! SUCKS!!!!! Anyone have a rough estimate on how much it would cost to replace a fuel pump? I dont have the tools or the place to replace a fuel pump myself.

If the pump is bad and not pumping, there won't be any pressure in the fuel rail. Just depress the schraeder vale (like a tire valve) on top of the fuel rail and see if gas squirts out. It should be at about 35psi, like tire pressure.

Oh, boy, I just looked in my documentation for a '96 4.6 and it has a CCRM, Constant Control Relay Module. That contains the fuel pump relay and a couple of others.
It is located mounted to the passenger side upper radiator support.

Here is the pin out for the connector for it.

BTW I guess you remembered to put fuel in the tank right?

Just for future reference im not sure what year they moved it in but my 93 thunderbird had the DLC for the scan tool under the drivers side dash near the bottom of the steering wheel but my 96 thunderbird has it on the passenger side below the glove box. just FYI - Jared

I assume you have a code reader for the connector under the dash. Does it actually communicate with the pcm or do you get nothing. In your year there might be the diag connector inside the car but it is dead and you will have to use the diag connector under the hood. Use the link that broncojoe gave you to try that one.
