Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

Exclamation Automatic Transmission gasket replacement HELP for a 1986 V8 Thunderbird

Following the instructions from my Haynes Repair Manuel, I am attempting to remove the automatic transmission pan in order to replace the very old gasket that was leaking.

I raised the front of the car on jackstands and I Removed all the bolts and drained part of the transmission fluid, but I can not remove the pan. It's tight between the muffler (pg. 1-25, Illustration 28.7 on Haynes Manual) and the crossmember (pg. 7B5, illustration 9.2 on Haynes Manual) that hold the transmission.

The Haynes manual does not say anything else needs to be removed in order to get the pan out. Please, if anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. I have gently tried for a an hour to remove the pan and its way too tight. I can't slide it out from any angle.

Thank you in advance.
