Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

Default Clicking noise after startup

I have a '95 Ford Thunderbird and when I first start it, there is a clicking noise coming from behind the dashboard. After the car has warmed up, the noise will stop. Any thoughts or suggestions what might be causing this and is it something that needs repair?

Thanks for your help on this one. I can tell you that the noise, which could also be described as a "thumping" sound, is definitely coming from behind the dash, and in front of the firewall. Also, the clicking only happens when the temperature outside is cold, like first thing early in the morning, then after several minutes, the noise will stop. My main concern is to find out if this is something that should be fixed immediately or can I just live with it and avoid an expensive visit to the repair shop.

Have you tried starting the car without the heat / A/C on. Could be the blower? or try setting it a different speeds....

Actually, when the noise is happening, the heater/AC is not even turned on. I thought at first it was related to it, but I don't think it is.

How is the coolant level ? I have heard a knocking noise from low coolant level air trapped makes the noise bot I dont remember the noise going away at operating temperature.

You may want to check your lines to the heater core to see if there is at least fluid coming in and out and the lines are clear.
