Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

Default 97 3.8 V-6 Problem

I have a 97 3.8 in a T-bird 85k miles. I bought the car used. A squeek sound is comming from the front of the engine. Sounded like a belt/pully noise. I removed the belt and the sound remains although the sound is less. I opened the front end of the engine down to the timing chain and I don't see any reason for the squeek. Almost sounds like a metal to metal rub.
There is an oil leak around the timing chain cover/crank shaft seal. The PO may have driven the car while low on oil. I don't know the history of the motor.
I would appreciate any comments, don't want to reassemble until I solve the problem.
Thanks
Follow-up:
I tried turning the distributer shaft and noticed a squeek. Can the noise be coming from the distributer or does it squeek just because it is not on the engine?

on my 96 t-bird it was making the same noise, the dealer replaced the distributor shaft, that fixed the squeak, I got my old one back and sure enough, in my hand and twisting it , it squeaked, I shot the wd40 to it and it stopped
