Ford ThunderBird Ford thought they'd take their own stab at the nostalgia business. There are quite a few last-century icons that wear the blue oval. For a revival subject, why not use a car famous enough to have been the subject of Beach Boys songs, starred in George Lucas movies, and has been gone long enough to be missed? Why not indeed. In 2002, the Thunderbird was reborn.

there is a cable on the underside of the shifter lever that connects to the trans. if its worn out it could possibly do this, chances are slim, but it would be the "cheapest fix". i hate to be the one to break bad news but ur in for atleast somewhat costly fix.

cheapest things you can do is replace that cable and change the trans filter and put some new trans oil in it and hope that cures it. if not someones gonna have to take that puppy apart and see whats up, that alone is gonna run you atleast 400 bones just to look at most shops.
