Ford Torino Most Torinos were conventional cars, and generally the most popular models were the 4-door sedans and 4-door hardtops. However, Ford produced some high performance versions of the Torino by fitting them with large powerful engines, such as the 428 CID and 429 CID "Cobra-Jet" engines. These cars are classified as muscle cars.

what's "special paint"? I think the paint code might be on the sticker on the driver side door jamb. If you can find it, take the code (it's just a letter like "Q") to a paint shop and they can match it. Or see if they have a book with samples for 1970. The one I go to they have codes for all the years and most manufacturers with color chips in them. Hope this helps a little bit Mine's a 71 and if I remember correctly it is paint code Q which is medium metallic blue, but I'm pretty sure we found the code on the driverside doorjamb sticker...

my torino was ordered with "special paint" which means it was painted a non torino color. Mine was painted a thunderbird color. the color code on the door plate was left blank. its my understanding that the only way to know for sure is to find the "special order" from 38 years ago!! anyone have any other ideas? thanks

Do you have a sample you can take into a paint shop? Reason I ask is that most shops can color match a sample, problem solved Pretty cool though, never knew they did that. Anyways, good luck!
