Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default Pictures of my torque converter seal change...EXCELLENT PHOTOS OF ENGINE/TRANSMISSION

I included the picture of the murky coolant, that came out the engine, is this normal?

Which is the seal that I need to change? Nothing looks screwed up so far.

One of the drive axles fell out when I was yanking out from under the van. It didn't seem to be fastened on. Can I just slide it back in or does it need a seal change too?

Yeah the crane I bought didn't work out because the braces didn't line up with the holes at all as you can see.

I wish I had a lift like that, It'd make my Headgasket work take SO much less time, mostly because I'd no longer have to fight with the windstar's tight quarters. How much can I expect to pay for an engine lift/crane?

How is that lift attached to the van?

Put a new seal on the Torque Converter and slide it back on.

Axles just slide in and out, nothing special.

LoL that is fucken ridiculous. 1400 for installation of a 10 dollar piece.

Basically I weigh DIY by how much I make an hour and how long it will take to do the job. So far I make 20 bucks an hour and this job has taken me 6.....6 x 20 = 120 dollars compared to 1400.

The lift is attached by chain. The chain is attached to the frame. There are these circular holes (the one on the right of the van is where the filler tube for the windshield washer fluid reservoir is) and I stuck the chain around that. Used 9.8 bolts with the wheel lug nuts to hold the chain together. You can see it on the side view pic of the windstar where I'm about to pull the subframe from under it. It's really and easy job if you take yoru time and make sure you do everything right.

I fucked up the power steering oil cooler . Didn't disconnect it and went to raise the lift and fucked it up. You can actually see where I did it. I'm gonna try to fix it by bending it back but if that don't work what is the part number for the power steering cooler? Ford says 50 bucks, gotta be a cheaper on than that!

I also accidentally got coolant spilled on the TR sensor. Is it water proof?

Oh so the seal goes on the torque converter itself. Is there any other seal that attaches anywhere on this part? It would suck to do this all over again.

Can I just roll it under hook it up and start it and check for leaks instead of attaching everything or is this dangerous? (When I say attach everything I mean bolt the subframe to the van and attach the struts and shit)

Thanks for all your help Mark you really saved me from wasting a ton of money.

So the seal is on the torque converter itself?
I wasn't able to make it to the parts store this weekend.
Had alot of shit to do but I'm gonna get the part first thing tomorrow morning.

I'm cleaning up every inch/piece of hardware of the engine bay.
It's so easy to clean without the engine and tranny there!

Gonna do spark plug check,
wire check,
clean the engine/tranny more,
and use some BLUE lock tight on some of the bolts.

Is there anything else I should change out?
