Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
I have a 2000 Windstar and the dash light for emissions came on today. Any ideas of what I should check first?
Thanks.

Should I just replace them or is there a way to check them?
Thanks.

Prioro to OBD1 "test tubes" were used to check for a bad catalyitic convertor. Basically all it entails a piece of straight pipe to replace the catalytic convertor. This way the technician could check if the convertor was plugged up.

Could be many things. The correct thing and cheapest thing to do is go to one of your local big chain Autoparts stores cause most will test your codes for free.

you need to have the computer scanned for whatever code(s) are coming up and causing the light to come one. could be a number of things. this will help narrow it down so you'll know where to look.

Just had the code scanned, its the EGR value. I guess I'll try to clean it first and see what happens. Dosen't look to hard to get to.

Took the EGR value out and cleaned it with carb cleaner, reset it computer by removing battery cable and the engine light went out. Hope it stays off.
