Ford WindstarIntroduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.
Hello,
I am new here . I have a 98 WIndstar Gl . The ABS light on when speed up 60MPH before. Recently, it got worse and the ABS light will on when speed up 10 or 20 MPH.
I tried to let Autozone help me scan the ABS error code out. But they told me on way to do it.
The hard thing is that the ABS light will off when you shut down the car and it will not appear when you turn the key on.
SO, my question is : how to scan the ABS error code out? ANy special tools need? OR the only way is to go to dealor?
Thanks.

I would check the front tone rings first, they are on the outer CV joints. Pretty common for them to break. The ABS light doesn't need to be on to get a code but I have only done it with a scanner.
The most common cause of the ABS light to come on, is a fouled ABS wheel speed sensor... I recommend getting the codes scanned with an ABS scanner, otherwise you might end up replacing all 4 sensors for nothing.
I've never heard of tone rings breaking, but check it anyway I guess.

Autozone sells an ABS scanner for like $300... otherwise pay the Ford diagnostic fee (i strongly advise against the dealer fees... it's cheaper to replace all 4 yourself, than to have Ford replace one with labor.)

a good abs scanner start at about $1000. try to find a good local shop that has one, they won't charge as mush as the dealer. it does though sound like one of the sensors is bad
