Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Thanks! Struts, sway bar bushings and end links on order. I'll have then all (including tie rod ends) replaced, then front end alignment... cross your fingers! It drives me nuts, not being able to get rid this situation. Especially when it happens at highway speeds.

Thanks again!

Coil pack gone again. I swapped the plugs put better ones than OEM. Bosch platinum+4 and wires and coil just died again. Found out though that the plug for the pack is missing the tab that locks it. Maybe that is the problem. I'll go to the scrap yard to get a new plug and keep you posted.

those Bosch platinum+4's are crap, put the OEM recommended plugs in, and gap them correctly. .052-.056 I always gap mine at .054-.055 Nice big spark keeps the power up and the fuel economy good.

plugs are more important than they seem. no spark, no go. I agree with markv on the widening the gap to the maximum for the vehicle.

WTF!!! I put OEM plugs and the old wires and BROOOM.
I don't understand ! I measured the resistance in the wires and the new ones I had bought..... Holly CRAP new ones had like 500 Ohms and the old ones like 3.4K ...I said wtf?
I hope I can get my money back or at least a credit. I guess this cars are really picky with the parts you put on them.
I also checked the coils I have and they are all good.
So I have 2 spare ones for sale...lol

Thanks for all your help you guys.

The transmission is an unlikely source of the shake. I agree with the posts above. It's tire or suspension related. If you feel slipping or shuddering as you accelerate past 70, then it may be engine or transmission. With the A4XS(N), the most likely gear to go is first (i.e., you can't get going). I've rebuilt a couple of them, and it was always first that went (no pun intended), first.

Big reason why I only use OEM style parts unless I am going a performance route that calls for certain upgrades that are recommended.

I used autozone wires with Autolite Double platinums and I have no problems.... as I said in my previous post: The Bosch Platinum+4's are crap... I actually know of at least 3 people that have put them in windstars and had to get rid of them. You can make yourself number 4.
