Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 2001 windstar electrical problems

It started with headlight delay stopped working, cruise control, brake lights wouldn't shut off, then interior light delay won't work, doors don't lock when put in gear, interior lights don't come on when doors open, radio/window delay when ignition is turned off, once in awhile no lights in rear of van (brake, running, four ways, licence, back up) lights don't work, sometimes disconnecting battery fixes it, but not always. We have ripped out all the interior and checked all wiring and grounds for breaks or wear marks. HELP!

B2g_tiger,

Sounds like a problem I had on the step-son's car. One of the battery cable ground wires was not connect to the ground cable and the the car's cpu was not working right. You may have a ground wire loss or a cpu is going out.

This sounds like my 2002 Windstar. The rear lamps keep burning out and the sockets are turning brown, also the rear wiper no longer works, front door locks do not work. The cruise control no longer works, the fuel pump went out, as did the front wipers. Funny thing about the wipers is one of the connection on the motor was burnt off and the wiring pig tail to the wiper motor was also bad. I replaced the motor and the pigtail and I still do not have windsheild wipers. I also had to replace the fuel pump last week.
