Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default 1998 Ford Windstar

Hi, I just bought a used 1998 Windstar and I am experiencing some weird phenoninas.

1. Twice in the past 6 months, just out of the blue, my transmission after driving for a while has a momentary complete failure (at a traffic light I hit the gas and .... nothing!) After a short period of thime (~minutes) or it could also be by shifting into reverse and then back to drive, the transitssion responds properly. There is no slippage or whining and shifting is perfect between these two events.

2. power door locks will lock but won't unlock the doors.

Has anyone had to deal with these issues?

Please let me know

thanks,
Micéal
