Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

If your exhaust tip is larger than your cylinder bore, then you are a Ricer.

You are as useful as a Screen Door on a Submarine!

So if you dont have this tool you should spend almost $200 on this tool to find out you need to spend another $100 or more for sensors?

That is not cheap to me.

All places that test around here for free do not have live data.

Catvents,

The link you provided is helpful and looks like I will take the challenge and replace these components. I don't know the expense yet but it seems a lot cheaper than the O2 sensors. It's a shot in the dark for me but I will give it a try. Thanks to all for your feedback.

I got my scanner for 50 bucks. It has live data among a lot of other useful tools. I keep it in my vehicle at all times and has helped me trouble shoot problems with sensors and codes a few times already.

Even if he has to pay for new sensors atleast he has an OBDII scanner he can use on that vehicle and any other vehicle he owns. Live data and I/M status are great tools you can use when your driving/parked.

U381 Universal Live Data OBD II OBD2 Engine Code Reader

eBay Motors: U381 Universal Live Data OBD II OBD2 Engine Code Reader (item 280221222980 end time May-01-08 16:25:22 PDT)

The technologically advanced, internet updatable U381 series code reader is a leap forward in Code Reader technology. With simple push button operation you can easily retrieve and decode OBD II error codes. With Live Data and Freeze frame capability you can also view real time engine data for even easier diagnosis. This level of sophistication with ease of use has never been offered in a handheld unit for under $350. This unit will work with all OBD-2 compliant cars from 1996 to 2007. All cars sold in the US are required to be OBD-2 compliant. For cars sold internationally check to make sure you have the correct connections below. For 2008 model year and up and some 2003 and newer cars look for the U581 model CAN-BUS code reader.

While this item is a MUST HAVE for anyone working on their car themselves, often simple things like I loose gas cap can cause the check engine light to come in. This is something anyone can fix and remove the code. If you mechanic is recommending an expensive repair, you can "double check" with your own diagnostics tool to ensure you are paying for what needs to be done, and not what your mechanic needs money for!

Buying a Used Car? Take the sellers' word that it is in tip-top condition, or simply plug this unit in, and find out for yourself if there are any troubles lurking. Not all engine problems illuminate the check engine light - and if the check engine light was on, would you buy the car?

Exactly What This Unit Supports:
# SAE J1850 - PWM - Ford Standard
# SAE J1850 - VPW - General Motors Standard
# ISO 9141-2 - Chrysler, European, and Asian vehicles

Note - this unit does not support CAN-BUS on the newest models, look the the U581.

Features:
• Read and Erase OBD-2 Trouble Codes
• Simple Plug and Play Operation
• Turn off Check Engine Light (Malfunction Indicator Lamp or MIL)
• Large Easy to Read Back Lit LCD Display
• I/M Status allows you to check for emissions testing before going to the test, why fail and pay twice?
• Updatable by internet with serial cable
• View Live Data Engine Parameters

• View On Screen definitions of each trouble code.
• Rugged construction for use in the shop or on the road
• No Additional Cartridges or Software to buy
• Even includes the 9v battery!
• Safe for your vehicles - battery is only for use when not plugged in

Why rely on standard OBD-2 trouble codes you can also monitor systems such as the oxygen sensors, ignition timing, engine and transmission temperatures, A/C Systems vacuum pressure and much much more with nothing more than the unit seen above.
