Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Question Speedometer light bulbs

Windstar 1996 3.0L. The bulb behind the temperature guage has blown. Is this accessible by removing the front plastic cover of the tach/speed panel or is it replaced from behind the panel? Thanks for any help/ideas.

What light bulbs does it take? I just bought my first windstar and need to replace a bulb or two.

Most auto stores should be able to look it up. I can suggest buy plenty of bulbs and replace them all if you can (why rip the dash apart more than once).

The bulb number is L194 for the instrument panel. But please check the bulb numbers out on rockauto

I replaced all the bulbs (part# 194 as indicated by Flyingjackal) in the instrument cluster and they are replaced from behind the cluster (as phantomsmack said). I have attached a schematic and a pic (courtesy Autozone) to explain how I did it. Just be careful not to break anything; you know, some panels are held in place with fasteners (no screws) and require to be pulled out...gently!

thanks, i have to change the dash lights on my windstar. Even replace the blown Check engine light. The pictures definitely help, even though my natural intuition would have led me to do the same exact thing.
