Ford Windstar Introduced in the mid-1990s, the front-wheel-drive Ford Windstar minivan campaigned with an emphasis on, and reputation for, safety. And in the hotly contested family minivan market of the time, that was an especially solid piece of ground to be on. As long as buyers didn't need to haul adults in back on a regular basis, the Windstar served a family's needs just fine.

Default HELP! 95 Windy Won't Start

Where to begin..alright well last weekend I had the fuel pump in my Windstar replaced. I then drove to Austin and the car was working fine but during the week as I was heading home it died on me. The fuel gauge shows half a tank left for the amount I've driven it seems like it should be lower (broken maybe?). I replaced the fuel filter (the mechanic did not replace it when he did the fuel pump) and put a gallon of gas in the car but it still won't start. I know the fuel pump is working because I can hear it whirring when I turn the car to ignition but it turns off quickly. When I replaced the fuel filter, no gas came out of the lines (I was expecting it to come shooting out) but anyway I put a gallon in afterward. The fuel pump reset switch in the back cargo area is already pushed down. So there's fuel, pump has power, fuel filter is new, and when I try to start it, it's cranking like it's going to turn over but it doesn't start up. I know the spark plugs are working and the starter too. Alternator is fine and battery is new.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm using the bus for now but I need my van working..This van is driving me

By the way, I was referred to a mechanic by an acquaintance of mine who says "it's an electrical problem and I can't fix it." I don't believe it is electrical. If anyone knows a not too advanced solution that I can do myself so I won't have to pay someone an arm and a leg just to get the Windy working again please share

If there is any way that you can get it checked for codes that would be VERY helpful. AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts, Lee Myles trans... and others will pull codes for free.
For about $80- $100 you can buy your own code reader. You should have an OBD II system.

Look for vacuum leaks. If any of your vacuum hoses look cracked or brittle (dry rotted), replace them, if they are loose at the connector, they may be stretched, cut off the end and reconnect them.

Check for spark. Pull a plug, hold it against the block and have someone crank the engine.

Let us know your results, perhaps we can help more from there.
