Steering problems on a 98 windstar.

So we took our 98 Ford Windstar in to the dealership and had two pressure hoses replaced on it. The steering when we brought it in was fine. Well I went to drive it home and almost ran into the side of a party store because it locked up on me. They told me it was bubbles in the hose. Then when I called this morning to let them know how mad I was now they say my steering was bad and that could of been it. Okay, so yea I can understand that, but would it cause the wheel to lock up?

I pitched a fit till they came and gave me a rental car. The sales guy took my van up there. He said it drove great. So now, my question is this. If it did that to me litearly (sp) like 5 mins after they fixed the hoses and then ran great for him could it really steering work great one minute and the next minute not?

if air bubbles are in the line it's possible. Just check the Power steering pump fluid level and see if it's up to the line on the dipstick cap thing. If the PS fluid is foamy or bubbling then you definitely have low PS fluid. After you get the fluid level correct, run the wheel slowly all the way to the left to right (lock-to-lock), maybe 2-3 full cycles. Then make sure the fluid is still up to the mark on the dipstick cap. That should help you purge the air out of the Power Steering system.
